America's Best Value Inn

Lodgers Beware!

While on a recent trip to Port Aransas, Texas we had the misfortune of ending up here for a night. There were no other vacancies in town, or we would of left. This America's Best Value Inn is located at 306 S. Allister, (361-749-5450). I have stayed at numerous America's Best and have never been treated like we were here.

When we checked in the lady at the desk spoke in very broken English and seemed to understand even less than she spoke it. My 17 year old daughter and I were told we couldn't have any visitors and my daughter could not be left alone in the room. We thought ok since we just wanted to grab dinner and get some sleep.

When we walked into the room the smell of dog urine was so strong it made you sick. We called the front desk and went down several times but could not get a response. We went over to the closest store and bought a can of Lysol trying to knock down the smell. When we were finally able to reach someone we were told that they couldn't change our rooms, but could give us some spray.  Once again spraying the dirty carpet, we laid their towels on the floor to walk on. Needless to say, when morning came we were out of there.

I later sent an email to America's Best Value Inn headquarters explaining what had happened. They forwarded my email to the motel where we had stayed and ask that I let them know what the reply from the management there was. Well, when I finally got an email back they informed me that if I had of asked for another room they would of granted my request. She then went on to say that if I wanted to come back and stay again she would give me $10 off. If I wasn't happy the first time, why would I spend more money to do it again? America's Best Value Inn headquarters assured me when I told them of the reply, that they would put a formal copy of the complaint in the records for this inn and higher ups would be looking into it. I don't know if anything will happen, so I wanted to make sure to warn unsuspecting customers.

This place may be ok in a pinch, but if you can get in some where else, then go there. This is a real last resort. I can't give this business but one star and didn't want to do that.
